I saw the Walky Dog Hands Free Bicycle Leash on amazon this morning and thought some of you might find it interesting. It should be especially handy if you tend to take your dog along during treks around PDX. It also includes a 5 LED helmet light so that you can go ‘hands free’!.

Development of Lent Park Minor league base ball teams stadium is on going. Parking being a driving factor. Current ideas look to merge the parking with exisiting parking of Portland School system that is currently strapped for cash. Additonnally, any new parking will include the use of "green bricks" which absorbs water and allows grass to grow in the cracks.

San Francisco and Portland – who will win the electric vehicles race?

San Francisco has declared war for electric vehicles (EV) on the ultra-green city of Oregon. Oregon has so far the highest concentration of hybrid cars in the US and is also working on building an infrastructure and testing grounds for new plug-in electric vehicles. San Francisco, however, announced that they expect to have more than 100,000 electric vehicles on the road by 2012 as a result of the recently launched EV program, supported by key businesses and international car and infrastructure companies. GM and Segway team up on innovative electric vehicle

This has been an exciting week in the area of personal, electric transportation. "General Motors Corp. is teaming with Segway Inc., maker of the upright, self-balancing scooters, to build a new type of two-wheeled vehicle designed to move easily through congested urban streets." The name of the project is PUMA, Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility.

Personally, I think the design is fantastic and very innovative. Its hard to believe that Toyota or Honda didn't develop it. I could really seeing PUMA strongly embraced in countries like Tawian and China where Scooters and bikes rule the streets. Can you imagine such a vehicle in Portland? I think it would be fantastic, but given its size it seems like a dedicated lane would be need for this class of device.

Traffic with time of day added to Google maps Portland

I wanted to share an email from Scott regardging Google map updates for the Portland area.

Also there is a "traffic at day/time" feature which seems to give you average traffic data at the timeframe of your choosing.

Multnomah County Judge Jerome LaBarre dismissed a nudity charge against Michael "Bobby" Hammond on Wednesday. Bobby was cycling as part of the city's annual World Naked Bike Ride. Judge LaBarre stated that "cycling naked has become a "well-established tradition" in Portland and understood as a form of "symbolic protest."

I was not aware that law makers could get these cars subsidized. When you consider 47 out of 80 Assembly members and 16 out of 40 senators have chosen this option, how could they go wrong? The incentives are fantastic. Both houses have a large proportion of payments on these cars taken care of. The Assembly members have them taken out of office accounts and the Senate Rules Committee for Senators. Hopefully, by using these vehicles, it will be an incentive for others to follow suit.
