i`m from india.. i bought car hyundai i10.. it s giving 20km as mileage..
Cash for clunkers might have some benefits but there are quite a few drawbacks as well that the media hasn’t really mentioned. and it is a great idea for the environment and green energy lovers like myself. This is already proving to be successful and cleaning the air we all breath.

CARS saved my wife and I approx. $3500 on a 2010 Toyota. Our old car was about to give up on us. Thanks CARS!

i think its a great idea that helps to give the auto industry a boost at the same time taking a step towards green living. i traded my 1998 ford ranger with 18 miles per gallon for a 2006 Honda accord that gives me 30+ miles per gallon.

Cash for clunkers might have some benefits but there are quite a few drawbacks as well that the media hasn't really mentioned.

Once the funding goes away, all of the manufacturers will be in the dumps yet again. It was pretty bad for the big three before the program, and it will go back to those levels again or probably worse. The cash injection was like wringing out a sponge that is even more drier afterwards.

Next, all of the people who now have much better fuel economy, performance, and reliability will drive much more than before. The claim that the fleet of vehicles will be better for the environment will be offset by a larger rate of consumption.

Also, one of the cars that people are buying is the honda civic. Note that this car is built in canada (north of toronto).

The us auto industry and economy are quite complicated beasts and there is no magic 4500 dollar bullet that will solve all of their current problems.

I traded in my 2000 ford explorer, I just tired of getting hit with the 60-120 dollar fill-ups. I live in indiana around hobart so I took it on route 30 and found a chevy dealer that was taking the cars. I was explained that if I get a higher mpg car I could get a better tax credit, so I picked the chevy cobalt. I drove off the lot a little taken back cause it gets around 10+mpg than my old truck in the city, plus I was speeding a little because I was used to my trucks heavy pedal. I would say it was a pretty good setup, no real issue with paperwork or down payments. I would do it again given the chance.

I live in bangalore, India and I bought a Honda Prelude car in 2008. The new Prelude gets 19 kmpg city and 24 kmpg highway. really i am very pleased with the Cash for Clunkers program. it is fuel efficient and useful for our environment also.
