Zytek – a leader in hybrid technology

Zytek stretches both Johnny Mowlem and hybrid technology. While Johnny Mowlem has won at both the Daytona Rolex 24 and the Mobile One 12 hours of Sebring in GT racing, soon he will be campaigning in the American Le Mans LMP1 prototype class. Zytek, a world leader in hybrid technology, is having Mowlem test their new proprietary gas/electric hybrid engine that have designed to withstand the extreme rigors of sports car racing.

The most unique feature of this new Zytek vehicle appears to be the KERS system that recovers kinetic energy. Molem is excited to be among the first to try it. Zytek has given Molem other driving opportunities previously including driving a Zytek prototype car to a second place overall in 2006 and test-driving a Formula One car in 2007. The Zytek car will be raced by Corsa Motorsport, owned by Steve Pruitt. Pruitt has a solid previous relationship with Mowlem, and has confirmed that Zytek will provide complete factory support for the car. After initial testing in the UK in July, they hope to have the Zytek hybrid competing in the last two ALMS races of the season in September and October. Zytek hybrid technology is already used in major manufacturers road cars. It is hoped that there will be a trickle down effect from this race car to improving the performance future road cars.
