Senate Debates Gas Mileage Focus of Energy Bill
"The Senate is debating a new energy bill that would raise average mileage standards for cars, light trucks and SUVs, from 25 to 35 miles per gallon by 2020."* Of course the automakers are baulking because it will cause them to have to develop more innovative products at a much faster pace than normal. My question is how long can the "Big Three" survive unless they make some drastic changes to how they develop their products? They been making cars that Americans don't want and that they are losing money on for close to 5 years now.
Its time that congress and the American public demand more fuel efficient cars. The fact that Toyota has surpassed Ford, GM, and Chrysler is proof that "The Big Three" need to re-think their product strategy to sell cars amercians want to buy. Why does change have to happen so slowly?
