Transportation Film Festival

The Baghdad Theater will be host to a film festival celebrating Portland’s unique and comprehensive transportation system, this Saturday, October 28th.  A series of locally made short films, ranging from five to ten minutes each, will show how Portland’s transportation serves the entire community.  Two live presentations will also be given, highlighting the history of transportation services in Portland.

Some of the short films to be included in the festival are The Defeat of the Mt. Hood Freeway, which documents how public involvement has changed Portland for the better; Seniors on Bikes, which presents the City’s new program to get senior citizens biking; and The Urban Adventure League Old Movie House Tour, a film that tours Portland’s historical movie houses, including the Baghdad itself.

The City’s Transportation Commissioner, Sam Adams, will be emceeing the event, and Portland State University’s Adjunct Professor, Scott Cohen, will be speaking on the history of Portland transportation.  The free event begins at 2:00 p.m.
